The Scarlet is the newspaper ofClarkUniversity, and it is written, edited, laid-out and produced exclusively by students. We print 1,200 copies weekly and distribute them to various locations on and off campus, including dorms, academic buildings, and local retailers.
The Scarlet’s advertising rates for the 2011-2012 academic year are as follows:
1/8 page 2 ¼ x 5 $70
1/4 page 4 ¼ x 5 $115
1/2 page 4 ¼ x 10 or 5 x 9 $180
Full page 9 x 10 ½ $300
Custom advertisement sizes are negotiable.
The Scarlet’s standard column widths are either 1.75 inches or 2.25 inches.
Ask about our 10% discount for local businesses.
Frequency discounts:
four times: 5%
five times: 10%
full semester: 15%
All advertisement rates are net and not commissionable. Checks should be made out to The Scarlet,ClarkUniversity.
To ensure timely publication, ad materials must be submitted by 8:00 p.m. the Monday before the desired print date. Ad materials can be mailed or emailed in Microsoft Word (.doc not .docx) or PDF formats to cchilds@clarku.edu.
If submitted advertisements do not conform to The Scarlet’s size requirements, they will not be printed until changes are discussed with the customer.
